Review 2/22/2011
I used to work for creditreport.com (aka mighty net) i know former employyes are not supposed to leave reviews, but i just wanted to share something with those of you who have been impacted by this company, both negatively and positively....... i fully sympathize with those of you that have had a bad experience. i began working there as a retention specialist, moved to authentication of credit reports, then finally the priority department (manager). seeing as my title carried a bit of prestige with it, i happened to be in communication with the top dogs in in the company. they fed us a bunch of crap on my end as well, saying that it was our responsibility to keep our consumers safe and blah blah blah. they didnt. for those of you that didnt know, when they say credit monitoring, they mean credit monitoring through only one bureau (transunion). when they say identity theft protection, they mean they will email you if there is suspicion that your identity has been stolen (months after the fact). and if your spam filters pick up on the email, then you are left clueless. the company didnt even offer identity theft insurance, not a single penny. we had to go through a month of training so we could get you at every corner, with a response to all of these shortcomings. they taught us a rebuttal for everything. it was my job to lie to innocent people, young college couples, single moms who can barely afford to feed their children, elderly people living off of ssi who were lead into a false sense of security... and mighty net always had a rebuttal for me as an employee. i gave suggestions to improve the service, to make a difference, to actually help people. and there was always a quick argument on their behalf as to why my suggestions wouldnt help, why the company wasnt doing anything wrong, because they state the charges in the tiny fine print... i excelled at this job for quite sometime, but when i realized what i was doing, i couldnt sleep at night. i saw many facets of this business, and it was wrong from every angle. i sympathized with the people who called angry because of the charges or what have you. i did everything i could to make things right for all parties involved. i tried to take action from the inside. and i got fired. i do not agree with the business practices of this company. and if you choose to get involved with them, do it at your own risk. yes, they do state all the charges and what not in the terms and conditions. clearly? no. legibly? no. yes, the will cancel you. but not until you've begged and pleaded with them to do so. and as for a refund? forget it. this is a bit of an insider's perspective. i know it is frustrating to go through this process and deal with the loss of time and wages and whatever else you may encounter. but please sympathize with the people on the phone (not those who are rude, of course) because they don't like the shady business just like any of you. some of us didnt have any other option. the employees are being deceived just like everyone else. in fact, i am still struggling to find a job. why? because when potential employers pull my credit report, mighty net reported that the reason they terminated employment with me is because i was stealing company money. why? because i was crediting people who had their money stolen by this company. because i didnt just hang up when people got loud. because i saw their side of the argument. i feel bad for any employees breaking their back for this company currently. they have NO idea...
