Review 10/14/2011
|
I recently moved into a new apartment on September 27, 2011. I found out when I set up my water bill that the previous tenants have an outstanding balance of over 1,000 dollars. I was told by my property manager and NWP that I will not be responsible for the bill. The problem is, when I set up my online account, I called to get my account number and log on and a different e-mail was already attached. The problem was fixed so that I could log in, however, all of the previous charges are now linked to MY account, because rather than getting a new account with a zero balance, the old tenants were just replaced with me. So now I have a 1,030 dollar water bill in my name. I called the company, who was no help at all, told me my property manager was responsible, 'that's just the way it is', and wasn't given a new account. So as of now my name is still attached to the outstanding balance. I spoke again with my property manager who is going to try to take care of it. I am disgusted that a company is allowed to simply tack a new tenant on to an old bill, rather than giving out a new account. This is not secure at all, because the account number is not specific to me, the prior tenants know the account number and could probably get back into the account. I plan to contact the corporate office and possibly legal if the issue is not resolved. I have never been more disgusted with a company, their lack of help, organization, and billing.
