Pearl Bracelet breaking within a few months and being charged to re-string it.

I bought my wife a pearl bracelet for Christmas. By May the bracelet band had broken. We emailed customer service and they wanted to charge us $25 to restring it. What a disappointment for a bracelet that is less than a year old.
