Review 3/30/2011
Just DON’T do it. IF YOU ARE READING THIS BEFORE GOING TO PUBLIC MOTORS YOU ARE SMARTER THAN YOU KNOW. Sometimes the universe has a beautiful way of saving us from DISASTER. Although I left in tears, totally upset and pissed off, after reading all of these reviews I am SO glad that things turned out the way they did. Thanks to the unfortunate events that took place I did not buy a car and spared myself any future grief. I spent so much time looking through their online inventory. Researching Blue Book values, life expectancy of the cars etc. FACT #1:When you get to the lot they will not have most of the cars you are looking for. I found one car in particular I really wanted. I sent an email, left a message. I received a response via email that read and I quote “That car is still available. When can you come on in…? Give me a call if you have any questions.” I had some questions. I called double checked on the car and set up an appointment for the very same day. I drove nearly 2 hours in traffic from LA to Santa Ana. I immediately told the “Auction Lot Manager” the name of the girl I had spoken with on the phone. He had NO CLUE who she was. I said, “She told me she was new.” FACT# 2: She was not new but in fact running quite an old scheme to get people to come down to the lot in person. I took out my list of cars & whattya know? The sales guy was ignoring me and showing me other cars. I kept repeating that I was there to see one car in particular. He NEVER responded and kept diverting the conversation to other topics/cars. I test drove a BMW that was below sub-par. The interior was scratched up and there was some of their charming free popcorn sitting in the front passenger seat-gross. I drove the car, which handled so-so & I kept pointing out minor issues. “I’ll have it fixed,” or “I’ll get it detailed” he’d say. Do that BEFORE presenting a car to perspective buyer! How pathetic. It was scratched on the outside and missing an exterior window liner. “That’ll save you thousands,” he said. FACT# 3: He wasn’t even remotely interested in selling me a car I wanted to buy. I spot the car I was there to see, point to it & his exact words were “It’s no good.” I assumed it was a different car. He walks off to get numbers for the BMW I DIDN’T WANT and I kept looking for my mysterious car. Nope that was the only car of that make/model. I opened the door and sure enough it is the exact car I had seen online. When he returned I told him it was the car I came to see. “ Okay no problem. Lets see if you can take it for a drive.” “You just looked me right in the face 5 minutes ago and told me this car was no good.” He said “I didn’t know you were pointing at this car.” FACT# 4 HE WAS LYING DIRECTLY TO MY FACE. He knew exactly the car I was referring to. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH CARS THERE TO CAUSE THIS TYPE OF CONFUSION. Bottom line: Car was not available for sale. I drove all the way out there for a car that EVERYONE KNEW WAS NOT AVAILABLE. He asked me if I wanted to talk to a manager, I said YES. Manager NEVER came and finally he said the manager was gone for the day. He was sorry for the inconvenience and he would make it worth my while. I said, “You guys lied to get me here, you’ve been lying to me from the second I got here and now you think I’m gonna buy a car from you? You have no business ethics, I would trust nothing you sold me.” A sexist ‘manager’ started yelling at me and calling me ma’am. When I got uppity in return, he told me I could leave and to have a nice day. Well who ever you are sir THANK YOU. I would give you one LOUSY dollar of mine. And I did leave and my day got increasingly better once I read these reviews and saw how I had been saved. I said to the sales kid, “I know you’re trying to make a living but this is my money too. You’ve been lying to my face from the second I got here. It’s really up.” The last thing he said was “Can I call you when you calm down?” LOL=FACT# 5 THAT PLACE IS GARBAGE.
