Review 8/23/2011
We paid these guys premiums for 2 years and then my Rabbit has little bump from a fall. We take the rabbit in since he stopped eating [just to be sure] and specifically told the Vet to only complete what is covered by VPI. They provided the right service and my Rabbit is now healthy again, $700 later. This was by-the-book people.

Just like the piles of poor reviews already here about VPI, we send the bill to VPI and they don't pay squat. They immediate find something they don't cover in a random unrelated blood-test from years ago, so instead of breaking down the bill to cover something [feeding, overnight stay, daycare, drugs, special food, etc], they deny the whole thing flat. My Vet and VPI then go round and round with forms, letters, and phone calls to try and remove the concern with no luck; and now I have a pissed-off vet and a $700 bill. How wonderful. I told the Vet to please remove the VPI brochures from their office since they are promoting this pet insurance by having it displayed in their office.

VPI needs to be sued big-time. They are a terrible insurance provider and company. Their Teir 1 service people are untrained zombies which only read what we can already see on the VPI website. Service is horrible and you can never get in touch with anyone who might be able to actually do something. Those persons are buried under 10 layers of legal teams.

For Rabbit insurance, this was the only provider I found, but now I know better. VPI is similar to those insurance companies which insures 40-year old homes sight-unseen and then denies every claim. Same shady business practices.

PS. I don't know how VPI works for non-exotic animals like cats or dogs, but for animals like rabbits, just don't bother.

----------------------------

Update: My Vet has been receiving multiple complaints from pet-owners about VPI not paying out for routine events and she has removed all VPI paperwork previously displayed in their office. If anyone asks about this insurance company the doctor leaves this up to the pet-owner, but tells them to Google the company and decide for themselves.

Any smart pet-owner would read these reviews and steer clear of this questionable insurance company.
