I purchased a containment package about 3 months ago, after my husband installed it in our front yard our two German shepards can roam the yard unleashed with out worry that they will escape, great product that I would recommend to anyone.

Totally Unacceptable Business Practice
I had ordered 2 RX-10 Multi-Function Elec dog collar over the past year and had many issues, with replacing one of them twice already and now neither work. They claim these collars are waterproof, as it was also told to me by their sales dept, that my dog could go into pool. This is not the case, as if the collar gets wet on numerous occasions it with either stop working or continously work, zapping your dog. I had sent nemerous emails to company requesting either an exchange, refund or possible answers to what I may do or what product would work for my situation, ALL with no response. Even their 1800 number states they are unavailable at this time. This is unacceptable they be allowed to advertise a product as waterPROOF as it should state water RESISTANT. Also unacceptable and no one returns emails, complaints or questions.

Bark Terminator and Express Train Remote Collar
We originally purchased the Bark Terminator for our large (50+lb) puppy. It worked great - too great in fact. It picked up on the many sounds our 5 children generated and would go off without her barking. We called HighTech Pet and explained the situation. They suggested that we trade it in for a remote training collar. We only paid the difference in price and had a new unit in about 2 weeks. The Express Train Remote Collar works -very- well. Our dog responds to the audible tones almost all the time. We've rarely had to use the negative shock at anything but the lowest level. Because of her size, she wears things out and the collar had become almost worn enough to no longer fit properly - customer support at this company is amazing. We are so pleased! We got a replacement collar unit with no hassles at all. We would highly recommend this company and their products!

One happy customer
I love our pet door and so does our dog. Since me and my husband work all day it works really well for us. Our max goes in and out whenever he needs to and we don't have to worry about coming home on our breaks to take him out.Our max is super smart and it took him only a day to get use to it. We have had it just under a year and we brag about it all the time.

Excellent Product
Worked almost immediately. Our dog used to bark at everyone walking by on the street and whenever the doorbell rang. We also use an invisible fence, which uses a sound to warn the dog before going far enough to get a shock. The sound from the bark collar appears to result in the same immediate response and the dog stops barking almost immediately. Thanks.

RX-10 rechargeable collar
I was disappointed in the design of the on/off switch button on this collar. It is embedded so deeply down in the collar that we had to turn it on/off with a tool every time. This gets to be a nuisance and eventually the switch was unusable, therefore, I had to return the collar for a new one, which is still designed the same way. On the other hand, when the switch worked, the electric fence/collar system worked great at keeping my Houdini talented dog inside the fence. Just a new design on the switch and it would be "perfect".

High Tec Pet - BUYERS BEWARE!!!!
Buyers beware!! Engineered to last a lifetime?!? My second door in 2 1/2 years has quit working. I have the large automatic door with the extension for wall adaptation. Yes! I have a hole in the wall of my house and my second $400 “lifetime” door just filling up space confusing my dogs and interrupting my work schedule. I am a single person commuting over a half hour each way, which along with my 30 minute lunch turns an 8 hour day into a 10 hour day for my dogs. But in this economy what employer settles for 8 hours so when I found this door in June of 2009 I thought it was a godsend. A little helper enabling me to keep my job and work the ever demanding schedule expected of it. I liked it so much I said nothing as I had to continually replace the transmitters at a rate of two a year, once for each dog. Usually whenever the battery needed to be replaced, so did the transmitter. I still said nothing when this twice a year purchase turned into purchasing TWO twice a year. Intending first to make sure I always had a replacement since the dogs don’t understand why they can’t use the door they love so much. Unfortunately it turned into a necessity since every time I ordered two, one transmitter wouldn’t work right out of the box! I was out shipping to deliver the defective collar and shipping to send it back since Petsmart does not reimburse shipping on defective merchandise and refuses to take it back at the store. No wonder it is identified as a “Top Seller” on their website. Does anyone have any choice!?! After all, what is $50 - $60 when you have a $400 door filling a hole in the wall of your home. I’ve counted 17 replaced collars since June of 2009 when I purchased my door and what I thought was a $400 door turned into a $1000 door with all the transmitters needed to use it. This is also not mentioning a “back-up” battery pack I purchased in case of power outage only to find that it doesn’t work if the door is plugged in. AGAIN, I big waste of money! NOW I sit here and wait for an e-mail as to when HIGH TEC PET will ship the motor I ordered TWELVE days ago. When it quit working this second time I followed the troubleshooting helper on the website and ordered the Circuit Board recommended for my issue. After finally receiving the Circuit Board it didn’t match the light holes in my unit (which I was willing to live with) but it didn’t work. I decided to try to order a motor and pray that that helped. I wish I could say that it did but since it hasn’t even been shipped I don’t expect it for another week, at the earliest. Now I’m going on a month and the dogs have learned to “hold it” once again so I guess now my dilemma is finding an alternative and fixing the hole in my wall and warn EVERYONE I can think of to BEWARE! ENGINEERED TO LAST A LIFETIME??????????

Crappy powered dog door
I purchased the large battery operated dog door. Ever since the door has been installed it has been nothing but trouble. First the battery charger didn't work. I was sent a new charger and battery. The door now won't close. The door comes down part way then it goes back up. It will just go up and down 10-20 times before it closes all the way. It is in the low 20's outside too cold to have this darn door refusing to close smoothly. The door has never worked smoothly. Ever since I received the power door my dog has had difficulty using the door. The door has never opened consistency, now the darn thing won't close correctly. I spent over $500.00 on the door and collars and batteries. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

NOT "engineered for a lifetime"
We bought the large patio pet door for our cat and two labs because we were having raccoons come in our flap door and we were worried about security since an average size person could easily enter our house through the flap. Our pet door operated well initially. We've had it for about 3 years. Over time, however, the sensor sensitivity decreased until we had to have it at high sensitivity both indoors and out and even then the door wouldn't operate until our cat or dogs were standing right in front of it. Then suddenly, just before we were to go away the outside sensor quit altogether. This was a major inconvenience because we rely on it for our cat to have outdoor access while we are gone since she refuses to use a litter box. It's also extremely disappointing for such an expensive item that claims to be "engineered for a lifetime." I'm not sure what we are going to do since it'll be at least another few hundred dollars to replace it, so I think we'll investigate other options.
Some other comments that you might want to consider before purchasing this unit:
The collar sensor is really large and awkward on our 9 lb cat. I always feel bad when I look at her wearing it and scratching at it. She seems to find it uncomfortable.
It's been a very expensive proposition having this door, between the cost of the door and the rate at which our dogs go through the collars. For some reason they just don't last on our dogs longer than a couple to a few months at a time even with just brief outdoor wear. We've spent hundreds replacing collars.
The website advertises that the doors don't operate when the animal is standing or lying by the door, only as it's moving near it. We've never found this to be true. Our cat would go through and sit still just outside the door and the it would keep staying open. We'd have to go downstairs and chase her away from it. Our old flap door was much more energy conserving.
The final comment is that the motor unit is very loud. We could hear it at the opposite end of our house on the other floor. It was always disturbing to any house guests we had since it was right next to the guest bedroom and of course the cat used it at night.
Overall, I'm disappointed with my door. Despite a few faults it seemed like the best option when it was working, but I can't afford to keep spending like this when also considering it's other limitations.

Just purchased the electronic pet door. This is my second electronic door from them. (My first purchase was in 2003 and the customer service was objectionable then too.) This new door is a replacement. The collar failed within days. I have sent a tech support request via the Hi Tech Pet website inquiring about a replacement collar. No response (duh, really?) after several days.
I called the customer support number and as a person at High Tech Pet picked up the receiver I could hear that my call was immediately and deliberately hung up on. World class customer service? Ha! Don't insult the world with this claim!
High Tech Pet customer service?? -- yeah, right. Once they have your money you become their sucker.

I am disappointed in this company as they advertise their superior customer service.
The electronic collar I bought quit working(purchased 6/3/2011 -- quit 7/21/2011). I tried calling, but are closed on the weekends so I filled out and sent the "Customer Support Form" #26063--on 7/23/2011, but have received NO response! (with the exception of the automatic "we received your email and will contact you shortly, usually within one business day"
I would like my money back and surely believe that an email and/or a phone call would be appropriate from a company that is rated with an A+ from the BBB.

A great idea, but I've spent more money on collars and parts over the years that it is just not worth the money.
Works great when it works, but make sure your going to pay 3 time the cost on extra parts.
I've have had dozens of collar because they fail and it's not just the battery. I also replace the receivers in the door twice and now it does not work again.
I'll have purchase the parts again to keep it working.
This product is not WORTH THE MONEY IN the long run.

I am very happy with High Tech Pet Store. I ordered my electronic doggie door a year ago and did not get it installed until now. It did not work and when I contacted customer service they quickly offered to send me the replacement parts or said that I could return it and they would replace the whole door. I received the replacement parts in 2 days and I installed them and I have a very happy boxer now! This is the best thing ever!!!

I am very upset with the customer service department with High Tech Pet. When ordering the product I was guaranteed full credit if not satisfied with the product and would also be sent a voucher for return shipping as well. That is not what happened. Not only did I have to pay for return shipping, they also refused to credit back the cost of shipping the product to me. So please read the very fine print close when it comes to this company. I will never order again from High Tech Pet nor will I recommend this company to anyone in the future.
