I have NO clue how this company has such a good rating. They are terrible and are clearly ripping people off. Me and my husband lived in an apartment in Chesapeake, Va. called Adalay Bay. We moved there in January 2010, at which time our monthly bill was $55.00 a month. Being that we have lived in the area our entire life we knew for us this was about normal. Prior to moving into the apt we owned two homes and we received our water bills directly from the city every two months. Now we are billed once a month and our bills just one year later run around $120.00 a month. As people probably know, this company works on behalf of the Owner of your complex. So, my first complaints went to the leasing office. After all, they collect the pmt along with our rent they should know what is going on. I got excuse after excuse after excuse. Basically the poperty manager said the city rates went up. Yes indeed they did, just like they do every year here in VA. But they went up 17%. So, my question.....why did my bill double with less usage even?? To note, my first bill of $55 was for 49 units. My $120 bills have been for 42-45 units.It wasnt just me complaining. I personally know many residents have complained month after month. To add to the mix, our complex was taken over by another company in July 2010. Ironically, that is when everyone's bills started going up. Then more confusion begins, which company is ripping us off....the owner or NWP? Well in my case I blame both. Greystar for blinding thinking the problem will just go away and not demanding answers. I have done more research than anyone in that company. I should add I just moved from that complex because of the water bill and because they had total morons working in the office.I honestly think NWP is INDEED ripping people off. And in my case I think they realized that when the old company (that also used NWP) was taken over by Greystar, NWP took advantage of the fact that we had total morons working in the office that would never question them about tenant's excessive bills. I just recently spoke to a man that lives in a one bedroom with only his two dogs and travels a lot. He said his bill was $137.00 last month. One person for one month. Crazy. Hopefully these apt complexes that use NWP's services get off their rearends and start demanding answers for their tenants...or better yet fire NWP. In a nutshell, DO BLAME NWP for ripping you off but DONT let your apt complex management off the hook. They have a job because you are paying rent to live there. They cannot evict you for questioning your water bill. And don't let them bully you. Check you state laws and codes. Go a step further like I did. I contacted the city to see what they would have billed me directly. Even the City of Chespeake said I was being charged way too much by NWP. And most people know if your city government tells you someone is ripping you off, then thats bad. DONT JUST LOOK AT THESE COMPLAINTS.IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT ON NWP TAKE THE TIME TO PUT IT IN WRITING.
