My experience with NorthStar started with a clear quote with itemized cost. And it's exactly what I paid at the end with no hidden cost or extra charge.
On the moving and delivery day, Oscar and the crew are courteous, professional and efficient. They arrived on time, protected my furniture with great care and finished the job quicker than I expected.
The closest street to my new apartment's entrance is a no-parking zone, the movers were willing to park on a side street and carried the items for extra distance with no complaints.
I was moving from northern CA to southern CA. And among all the moving companies (including the more well-known big names) I inquired, NorthStar is the only one that offered second day delivery. And they kept their promise. It made the move so much easier. They are also very responsive and kept me informed along the way of all the information I needed.

Transitions in life could be emotional, and what NorthStar added was a truly "moving" experience. I will definitely pick them the next time I move.

I must say that although my experience with this moving company was not perfect, they did treat me fairly and honestly. Remember, no matter how good the moving company is, ALWAYS get your own insurance and don't depend on the 60 cents/pound insurance these moving companies offer which is a joke. A very valuable box of mine was misdirected during the move and the initial reimbursement these guys gave me (60 bucks total for the box) fell way short of the true value of the box. However, thankfully there are still honest people in this world and my box made it back to me. I would still recommend this company, but definitely take precautions and don't assume that because all the reviews for this company are good that they are not fallable.

Joel and his team were WONDERFUL!! They were fast, careful, and very professional. They packed everything well and nothing broke. Everything that they took apart, they put back together. They placed the furniture exactly where I asked them to. This is the second time I've used Northstar and I will use them again if I ever move again.

Joel and his crew of 4 were absolutely wonderful!! They came in to move a 4 bdrm, 3 bth, 3 car garage home and did a great job. I was overwhelmed with all the stuff that came out of our closets, garage, and cabinets. They packed everything down to our files in our cabinets, nothing was broken or scratched not even the walls. I have very heavy wood furniture,they padded everything and packed it well. It took 10.5 hours to pack, drive to new home and unpack everything. If you want to make a move easier on you and your family, HIRE THESE GUYS! The did an Awesome job. :-) Just moved us on 4-10-09

Joel and crew did a excellent job. Packing and moving went flawlessly with no breakage or missing items and they worked quickly, efficiently, and were clear on asking any questions if anything was in doubt. All packed boxes were also well labeled and organized, making unpacking as painless as could be.
Packing, moving, and unloading done for a pretty crowded 2-bedroom apt in about 5-6 hours in total. This is our second time using Northstar and we would definitely do so again.

Hired NorthStar after reading positive reviews on-line. Arranged to have my four-bedroom house moved to a new larger home. Moving company gave competitive quote. They were very responsive to all e-mail and phone inquiries. Confirmed everything a few days before arriving. They showed up on-time and started working immediately in fifth gear! These guys are FAST! Since I was paying by the hour I was concerned about slacking and guys moving like slugs just to earn more money. That did not happen with this crew. They were like a whirlwind in the house!
They were very respectful with my property – everything disassembled, wrapped in blankets and taped, and other items bubble wrapped (extra charge).
They drove to the second house as fast as we did and once there immediately got to work. No complaints or issues with the fact that they had to carry heavy furniture and appliances up two flights of stairs and through narrow doorways.
Except for a potted plant that was already cracked, nothing was broken, scratched, or damaged. Frankly, I was surprised, since I expected some ‘moving casualties’.
I would highly recommend Joel and his crew from NorthStar. They are professional, fast, careful, and very reasonably priced. Overall, OUTSTANDING!

This was the easiest and most well executed move I have ever had! Everyone involved were just great, from Tori who explained everything over the phone and managed to squeeze me into the schedule even though I called two days before only, to David the dispatcher who confirmed the move and made sure the crew notify my when they arrive at my home, to Joel, Eric and Oscar who handled my things with such care and respect. I was and am impressed with this operation.

They are really as good as people say they are. The three men that moved us were amazing. They were nice and easy to talk to followed our instructions and requests and afterwards made sure everything was done to our satisfaction. This is a much welcomed change from less satisfying movers that I have used in the past.

After my last move (with a different mover) I swore never again, I was going to move things on my own. But then the feared move day crept along and I had to admit to myself I’m not going to haul anything heavy on my own. No thanks. I read the nice reviews here on City Search and I want to thank all the nice people who wrote them and pointed me in the right direction. I got a two men crew that came and moved My stuff like they were four people. They knew what they were doing, and had the right gear and the right attitude. They weren’t complaining about having to take my stuff up two flights with no elevator, they were singing songs and making up new words for them and making me feel a little lighter in mood during a move of all things. I think they cured me of my allergies to movers.

They were very careful while moving all the items and took care of all my items.

I have nothing but praises for their crew. My move was a bit complicated. I moved my apartment and had two stops on the way to pick up a bedroom set that my parents gave me and an old heavy big screen my friend was throwing away after he got himself a shiny new plasma. His trash, my gain. Yolanda explained to me that my plan to start the day at my parents house before moving on to pick up my stuff, it wasn’t advisable because there’s this thing called double drive time in moving, and it will be advisable to arrange my pick ups and drop offs in one short straight geographical line. She said they’ll do whatever I prefer, but I was glad she pointed it out and change plans with my mom accordingly, and saved a few good bucks. The crew they sent were outstanding. They came energized and just worked hard for me. Truly appreciated.

NorthStar did an outstanding job with our local move. The movers were prompt, courteous and fast. Upon their arrival and while talking to the foreman his workers started moving out boxes. I can't beleive how fast and professional they were. I am going to reccomend them to all my family and friends and will use them in the future.
Lastly and probably most important was the cost. It cost me less than $500 dollars to move a two bedroom apartment across town and in minimal time. They were there by 8 in the morning and were done with the move by 1130 am. Amazing workers and company!!

I used Northstar moving company for my local move here in southern CA. I had a very good experience starting with the sales person (Ted Tindall) all the way to the movers and operations personnel. The moving team arrived on time and pakced up eveything from my 3 bed room townhome and delivered it to my new home and set everything up within the first 3 hours. In addition, they delivered my old refrigerator to my friend and old washer and dryer to a temple. The entire team of three people were very accommodating, caring and professional. When they say "no hidden charges", they really mean it. I got charged for exactly what they quoted as hourly charges. I will recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat!

My wife and I were in a little 1bedroom apartment in Sherman Oaks, had just moved there and literally unpacked the last box when the apartment manager knocked on the door to inform us that we needed to be relocated due to some major repair work that was about to happen. On top of that, we needed to be out ASAP.
Normally it would have been just a matter of taking a weekend and some friends but both my wife and I had been injured and could not physically complete the move. So I looked around for some quotes.
NorthStar had the best deals for what we needed.
The crew showed up with 2 days notice, bright and early...and on time. They not only relocated my apartment in under 4 hours, they were friendly and professional. They packed our apartment, dismantled our furniture and set us up in the new place.

Northstar professionals just moved our client from an apartment to a nice home on the Golf Course. THey got there on time and were very nice to this senior client. They allayed her fears about moving damage to delicate items. In fact, no damage has been discovered to any items at this time.
They helped unload and were very patient with the client as boxes were carefully unloaded into the right closet, etc.
They were accurate in their pricing and stayed within the client budget.
We would recommend this crew to anyone ready to move!

We had a great leader that moved the process along in a timely manner with care and concern for our possessions. Northstar made my move a very quick and pleasant one. My life had become very hectic and crazy with the sale of my town home - but Northstar took the worry out of my move by taking the pressure off and helping me with every aspect of their service - be it small or large. The initial contact went without a flaw - even though my moving date was within days of my call. The foreman and his men that showed up were MORE than friendly and helpful - wrapping up the large items and even packing up my last few items that I had missed. My move was just across town but they were just as focused as if it were cross country. They took great care in handling my "stuff". Even after the fact two weeks later - I noticed that a vacuum attachment had been lost thru the move - Northstar customer service stepped up to the plate and offered me compensation. Truly a great company that I will without a doubt use for my future moves.

Given the horror stories I'd heard about long-distance movers, I was wary when I received an estimate from this company, especially since it was son's "stuff" being moved to a different state. But I'm happy to be able to wholeheartedly recommend Northstar based on my experience. The men who did the load-up (where I was) were so impressive; they were courteous, professional and fast, and addressed my concerns about keeping costs down. The shipment arrived at my son's within the time window they'd given; and the final cost was considerably lower than the estimate, because they honestly reported a lower weight than we'd originally thought. Best of all: Nothing was lost or broken. This is a reliable company that I'd use again.
